Alquez 2021 ha sido reconocido con la Medalla de Oro en la edición de verano de Berliner Wein Trophy, uno de los concursos vinícolas de referencia en Alemania. En la edición de verano 2024 de este certamen se registraron más de 14.000 vinos, catados por un jurado internacional de 400 expertos durante 8 días de cata. El certamen se celebra bajo las estrictas reglas de la OIV y la UIOE, así como bajo supervisión notarial.

Alquez 2021, es la última añada de un monovarietal de garnacha de cepas viejas que Sommos elabora en su pequeña finca de Murero (Zaragoza). Tal y como apunta nuestro enólogo, José Javier Echandi, “se distingue por ser un tinto con carácter, de gran frescura y elegancia. En nariz dominan las notas de fruta negra fresca, mientras que en boca se muestra estructurado, aunque con gran finura”. Un reconocimiento que “avala nuestro trabajo en un territorio donde el clima y la edad del viñedo hacen que la labor no sea fácil, pero, desde luego, el resultado merece la pena”.

Gold Medal for Alquez 2021 at Berliner Wine Trophy 2024

Alquez 2021 has been awarded the Gold Medal at the summer edition of the Berliner Wein Trophy, one of Germany’s most prestigious wine competitions. More than 14,000 wines were registered at the summer edition of this competition 2024, tasted by an international jury of 400 experts during eight days of tasting. The competition is held under the strict rules of the OIV and UIOE, and is conducted under notarial supervision.

Alquez 2021 is the latest vintage of a single-varietal Garnacha made from old vines at Sommos’ small estate in Murero (Zaragoza). Our winemaker, José Javier Echandi, notes, “It stands out as a red wine with character, great freshness, and elegance. It is dominated by fresh black fruit notes on the nose, while the palate is structured, although with great finesse” This recognition “validates our work in a region where the vineyard’s climate and age make the task challenging, but the result is undoubtedly worth it.”
